MAEEP Building Decarbonization Presentation

ZOOM Training Description

Concerns about greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change have driven increased focus on decarbonizing the building sector, a major contributor to emissions. Energy efficiency strategies combined with replacing fossil fuels with electric heat pumps can dramatically lower emissions, with the goal of achieving zero net energy performance. This presentation centers on the challenges of decarbonizing existing buildings. It examines the load reduction strategies and right-sizing of new systems. Considerations for applying heat pumps and types of heat pumps and their advantages and drawbacks will be covered. Examples of various systems will be shown.
