Part 2: Energy Savings for HVAC Packaged Systems
Friday, March 26, 2021 - 9:00am to 12:00pm
Training Overview:

This is the 2nd date of a 2 part series. It can also be watched stand-alone. In this module, we will finish our discussion about energy savings for packaged rooftop units by taking about VFDs fan systems. Then we will continue on with heat pumps and VRF systems.

Event Benefits:
Who Should Attend:

o RTU Staged Air Volume (SAV)
1. How is SAV different than VAV?
2. What good is a VFD on a “constant volume” system?
3. VFD or ECM?
4. How is it controlled?
5. Is it required by energy code?
o Heat Pump Systems
 Discussion of Heating System Options
 How does a heat pump work?
 Operating cost comparisons to electric heat, natural gas, and propane
 Do heat pumps work in cold climates?
 Heat pump types: air source, water source, and geothermal
 Auxiliary Heating Choices & Hybrid Systems
o Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) Systems
 Technology Overview
 2-pipe Heat Pumps & 3-pipe Heat Reclaim
 AHRI Efficiency Ratings
 Hybrid Systems
 Application Considerations
 Energy Comparison to other system types
